Q. What is Rec League?
Island Swish basketball's Rec League is a recreational program for boys and girls of all skill levels. Our focus is on providing a fun and enjoyable experience for all players while also teaching the fundamentals of basketball. We strive to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the game. Our experienced coaches are dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all participants. Come join the Island Swish Rec League and have a great time playing basketball!
Q. How is Rec League Set up?
The Island Swish Rec League is an 8-week program for boys and girls in grades 4 and above. During the first week, coaches and organizers will evaluate players and form even teams. From weeks 2 to 7, players will have a mini-skill session and a scheduled game during their designated time slot. The final week will be dedicated to playoffs and a wrap-up of the program.
Q. Can I request my child to be on friends' teams?
We will try our best to accommodate this to help families out but this is not always possible with our high enrolment and limited gym space.
Q. What is Club?
The Island Swish Club is a competitive basketball program that focuses on developing players' skills and abilities through practices and competition. Players will have to try out for the team, those selected will participate in 1-2 practices per week and participate in games and tournaments on Vancouver Island and the mainland. Please be aware that playing time is earned and may not be equal among all players on the team.
Q. Do we offer individual skills training?
Currently, no. We do not offer individual sessions
